Learn to Drive - About Your Driving
Licence
When applying for your Driving
Licence you will be issued with the new style photocard, the DVLA stopped
issuing the old paper licence in December 1999. The new photo licence comes in
two parts, a plastic photocard which displays your photograph and a scan of
your signature, this is accompanied by a paper document that contains further
information about your driving entitlements. Whenever you need to show your
licence you will need to produce both card and paper. Your new photocard
licence will have to be renewed every ten years until you are 70.
To
apply for your driving licence you need to complete the following forms which
can be obtained from your local Post Office.
D750 - Application for a
photocard driving licence.
D1 - Application for a driving
licence.
